American Style Jacket Potatoes

This may be a ‘no-duh’ post for my American friends, but many folks in north England don’t know how easy and how tasty American style baked potatoes are.

My Rating: 4 out of 5

Ingredients

  • Jacket Potato
  • Butter
  • Cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Spring Onions
  • Bacon Bits
  • Seasoning of your choice, usually salt and pepper does just fine.

Method

  • Bake the Jacket Potato for about an hour at 200 degrees C.  You should be able to easily stick a butter knife through to check when it’s fully cooked. (also, 9-12 minutes in the microwave at 700W is usually more than enough to bake a potato, but it won’t taste nearly as good as when it comes out of the oven.)
  • Break open the Jacket Potato by pounding it on the plate first and then slicing it open– this breaks up some of the potato inside the jacket.  Top with butter first and then add all other ingredients as it pleases you.
  • EAT.  nom.

Notes

English people– quit the jacket potato + tuna + sweet corn.  Just stop it now and use this instead.
